Colorado Triathlon: Swim
Missed my wave because I didn’t know about the colored swim caps derrrrp. Went out with 14 instead of 13. The out was straight into the sun which was tricky but I didn’t get a black eye. My breathing was too heavy to do my normal bilateral pattern so I switched to every other stroke. Didn’t really settle into a good rhythm until halfway back. Not too bad! Split time 17:13
Colorado Triathlon: Bike
Felt good to go fast on a bike again! I’ve only ever done draft legal gravel races before (Lefthand and old man winter) so this was the first time on road in aero(ish). Pretty uneventful other than dropping my bottle near the end. They call me the dropper not because I drop people but because I drop my nutrition. Split time 50:04
Colorado Triathlon: Run
Couldn’t get my heart rate up easily because legs were rate limiting. Felt a bit slow but I guess that’s to be expected. Great morning! Learned a lot of dos and don’t dos, which is what this one was about - just learning the ropes. Official time 1:31:19. Run split 19:56. 42/413 overall, number one in the first-timer category! 7/413 in the run split??
